sometimes, as a photographer, i have an idea for somethign i want to photograph - it may be a subject in specific light, a particular action or just a feeling that i think a scene might impress on me. there is a problem however, when i get blinders on for that particular photograph - i miss everything else the natural world is attempting to show me. on this particular day, this exact thing happened to me - i was so blinded with the image i wanted to make, i neglected to even look for anything else. as it seems to almost always happen, the image i’d hoped to photograph never appeared on this day. in a rare fit of disgust and pseudo pouting, i drove off, as if to prove to mother nature i didn’t need her to make the conditions right for me.

and i ran into this scene.

it was as if mrs. nature was telling me that she’d been making the conditions right for me the whole time - i was just looking in the wrong place.
