i’ve selected Sherri Mabe (@starlitwaltz on instagram) to show with me. Sherri is an infrared photographer, specializing in black-and-white who often shows the desert and prairie for the beautiful wilderness areas they are.
Sherri has been someone whose work i’ve admired for a number of years, and we recently found ourselves in the same facebook photography group regarding photography. not only do she and i share a passion for the solitude and peacefulness provided by the natural world, we both have a passion for the preservation of it and an acknowledgement to those who have been stewards of these places throughout the years.

i’ve selected Charles David Corbin (@disc.of.confusion on instagram) to show with me, a black-and-white photographer who beautifully shows the intricate details of nature.
i recall a similar show at a different gallery where i was speaking to one of the invited artists. he was beaming with pride at having one of his artistic pieces showing in a gallery. when D’art decided to do this show, i knew i had to select someone who’d never had the experience of having their work in a gallery. i’ve been a fan of Charles’ work for quite some time, and i’m excited and honored to have his work showing in the gallery next to mine.

you can read more about this image by clicking on the image. i won’t bore you with the details of how or why i took this photograph again here.
but i will tell you how incredibly excited i am to have the image selected into this show about the vision of photographers. the image was selected into the show by Maureen Ruddy Burkhart, an accomplished photographer whose work has been exhibited around the world. to say i’m honored that she chose one of my images, and this image in particular is quite an understatement.
but this image does reflect very much my photographic vision of the last year or two. many photograph nature at nature’s peak of color or drama, but that’s not how i feel when i’m in nature. there is a quietness, a peace and a tranquility that i feel in nature, and i in turn attempt to capture that and get the viewer to also feel that calm. this image does just that for me, and i hope it does for you as well.
you can view the 26x26 image and purchase the framed version from D'art gallery at 900 santa fe dr, denver, co for $499. show dates run from april 9, 2021 - may 2, 2021 while their hours are listed on their website at https://dartgallery.org/. the hours may change due to COVID restrictions, so please check before planning a visit to the gallery.
it’s a wonderful honor to have two pieces juried into the northern colorado regional photography show at the lincoln gallery in fort collins. my pieces: Pilot in the Clouds and The Incoming Storm Over the Valley will be in the virtual gallery at www.lincolngallery.com from April 9, 2021 - June 29, 2021.
this butte is located near what used to be Bears Ears National Monument just north of the Navajo Nation - one of the hardest hit locations by covid, per capita. many here can't socially distance as treaty water rights previously guaranteeing water to the Navajo have been reneged, so water delivery is a must in this dry, dusty climate.
the image was selected by Mary Voelz Chandler, a writer on the arts, architecture and preservation. she was the art and architecture writer for the Rocky Mountain News in Denver and co-author of the 2009 book, Colorado Abstract with Michael Pagila - a writer and critic for Westword. not only is it a huge honor to be included in this show, have this piece selected by such an esteemed art critic, but also an honor to tell of the struggles of some of those in this country that we don’t often hear about.
you can view the 24x12 editioned image and purchase the framed version from D'art gallery at 900 santa fe dr, denver, co for $449. show dates run from december 10, 2020 - january10, 2021 while their hours are listed on their website at https://dartgallery.org/. the hours may change due to COVID restrictions, so please check before planning a visit to the gallery. i’m selling four additional prints here (https://www.liftedspiritphotos.com/prints-of-the-month) for december’s print of the month. the cost will be $399 for the print alone, so your best deal will be to purchase through the gallery. Included in the five total prints in this edition will be one artist proof for myself.
all profits from the sale of this print will be donated to the Navajo Nation COVID-19 Response Donation Fund. (https://www.nndoh.org/donate.html)
it’s with great pleasure that i’m able to announce that my piece entitled The Grove was accepted into the turning leaves of fall juried show at r gallery in boulder, co. this piece has been purchased by a collector, is featured as the november 2020 print of the month (https://www.liftedspiritphotos.com/prints-of-the-month/the-grove) and now accepted into this show. the show will be displayed from oct 27 - dec 6, 2020. one fantastic aspect of the gallery is that it specializes in colorado artists.
unfortunately, this presentation has been temporarily put on hold. we’re hoping it’s rescheduled at a later date, but that will depend on the gallery availability. please check back for updates on this event.
as part of the celebration of ‘Mo Print, (month of print) payge gallery will be hosting a number of demos and presentations on different forms of print making. i’ll be presenting on the process of creating cyanotypes as well as making digital negatives for the cyanotype process on april 18th from 1 - 3 pm. i’m sharing the presentation time with another artist, so i’ll either be from 1 - 2 or 2 - 3. i’ll discuss the history of the process, dating back to the 1840’s, how to create a negative for use in the process from your digital images, exposure, development of the print, toning or combining multiple print processes, alternative print substances and overall safety of the process itself.
payge gallery will be participating in ‘Mo Print - the month of print, celebrating the art of print making. i’m fortunate enough to have been invited to show some of my own handmade prints, of which i’ve chosen the cyanotype process. cyanotype is a print process dating back to the 1800’s, and is an extremely versatile process. it’s best known for its prussian blue tones (which are also prevalent in possibly the most popular print of all time - The Great Wave Off Kanagawa) and as the print process to create the first known photo book by Anna Atkins, regarded by many as the first female photographer.
come celebrate the process of printmaking by viewing some amazing work by extraordinary artists at payge gallery from march 6, 2020 - april 26, 2020 and check out some of the demos and presentations offered at the gallery as well (including a presentation on cyanotypes by yours truly on April 18 from 1 - 3pm).
i’m extremely excited to announce that my versioned work entitled Snowy Morning on Antelope Flats was accepted into the monochrome juried show at r gallery in boulder, co. as someone who takes pride in my black and white and monochrome work, it’s extremely gratifying to know that my work moves others, and there is some incredible work in this show. the show will be displayed from feb 4 - march 15, 2020, and the gallery specializes in colorado artists.
I’m extremely happy to announce I’ve been accepted as a RAW Artist and will be showing and selling my work at the RAW Artists Holiday RAWK at the Church Nightclub in Denver, CO on Wednesday, December 4, 2019. RAW Artists is an international organization comprised of artists across many art genres that have localized shows in larger cities throughout the world.
I’d love it if you can make it down to the show on the 4th and say hi or buy some Christmas gifts for friends and family! I’ll have some specials and deals going on for the holidays only available at the show, so it would be best to get there if you’re interested in purchases. If you can or are considering coming, I’d love it if you’d help me out by purchase ticket(s) through my profile at: https://www.rawartists.com/liftedspiritphotos, then click the “Buy Tickets” button.
