i’m incredibly excited to announce an upcoming show at Artists on Santa Fe in denver, co with Leigh Cabell. Leigh does incredible art pieces using items we typically discard. her ability to replicate the details of a scene in nature as well as faithful color reproductions is astonishing, particularly when one considers the limits of the materials she uses. her work has a goal of encouraging us to view our actions and the impacts that our actions have on the loss of nature. in that respect, she and i are truly kindred spirits. as Leigh says in her artist bio, “together we can help the world remain a beautiful place, one little piece at a time.”
i met Leigh at one of my shows where she explained what she does and asked for permission to create some pieces based on my photographs, to which i happily (and humbly) responded, “yes!” her pieces replicate my photographs wonderfully, and in some cases do a better job of evoking the emotional response that i was hoping to evoke. i’m extremely pleased and honored to have my pieces shown next to (or in some cases perhaps above and below) her pieces. every image of mine in the show will have a corresponding piece created by Leigh using recycled items.
the dates for the show will be march 30, 2022 - may 1, 2022. first friday will be april 1, and Leigh and i will be at the gallery that evening from 6 pm - 9 pm. additionally, we’ll both be present on third friday, also known as collector’s night, which falls on april 15th. we’ll be there from 5 pm until roughly 9 pm, and that night will also serve as the show’s opening reception. Artists on Santa Fe hours are listed below: (though they may change due to covid restrictions)
