there is a motion and a dynamism in the dark trunks of the cottonwoods in this image. this scene is from grand gulch in what used to be bears ears national monument. as the area is no longer protected by monument status, but by much less protective status, i have deemed the dynamic motion of the still trees to be a waltz - but its last waltz.

there is currently a lawsuit challenging the authority of removing monument status, but the implementation of the new plan of management for the area is moving forward - which may find scenes like this destroyed very soon.
