i was sitting in a turnoff parking lot in yellowstone national park, watching the fog move through the area, photographing the open pockets of trees and mountains. i noticed the parking lot fill up and people looking up in the general vicinity i was concentrating on. i finally realized that one of the areas lacking fog contained a momma mountain goat and her two kids, and that’s what people were really looking at.

i could sit and watch fog roll past for hours, and i believe i actually did on this occasion. as someone pulled into the parking lot with their window down, i asked them if they saw the mountain goats. they said they did and were trying to figure out what the hell i was photographing.

this is what i was photographing. oh well.
