i absolutely adore the long shadows of early sunlight in the morning and late sunlight in the afternoons/evenings. in the desert, among the buttes and occasional trees, these shadows are seen incredibly across the landscape of valley of the gods in bears ears national monument, and this morning was no exception. the juniper tree in the immediate foreground was still in shadow from a large butte next to us, but the butte in the distance was lit up as only early light can do on these desert rocks.
