when photographing sand dunes, i’m often attracted to the shapes of the dunes. i really loved the shape of the dunes, the slight bit of light along the ridge of the lowest dune, separating it from the small upper dune, the minimal light across the lower dune, and the curves of the shapes against the horizon in this scene. i don’t normally process quite so heavy handed, but this image is all about the shapes and relationships, so abstracting those items from the “reality” of the scene felt like the way to go for this image.
