Clinging to Life
Clinging to Life
i almost didn’t include this image in the show, although it was both Jenn and my favorite image of the grouping i was considering. it just didn’t feel right when looking at the images as a whole - it didn’t seem to fit. (and still doesn’t) but i matted, framed it and took it to see if it fit in with any of Jenn’s paintings, and sure enough it did wonderfully. so it was included, and seemed to be a favorite image of the many people that came to see the show. it’s a small tree growing within a rock that throughout most of the year has no issue hanging on. as this image was taken during peak winter snow runoff, it gave me the impression of it hanging onto life with the rushing water. i also loved the strong diagonal of the rushing water.
