there’s a concept in photography, and more generally art which is called the rule of odds. it states that an odd number of subjects is more interesting than an even number of subjects, implying the eye will bounce from one to the other in numerous patterns with odd numbered subjects. i don’t typically find myself looking for odd numbers of subjects, but on this particular occasion i fell in love with the moon, the tree and the butte in the distance as my odd number of subjects. additionally, i really loved the black and white processing on this image which seemed to accentuate the three subjects more than the color version of this image.
