my intent for this project was to photograph landscapes in areas in the proposed reduction of bears ears national monument. but there are time when i can’t help myself with regards to getting more intimate images. i happened upon this small tree on a canyon hike. as so many of the trees in the area, its lack of leaves and rugged shape left me intrigued, not to mention its ability to grow in such a harsh, rocky environment.
