Cracks in the Atmosphere
Cracks in the Atmosphere
upon completion of a recent photographic workshop in death valley national park, a group of two fellow photographers and i went to a basin to look around - as recommended by one of the workshop leaders who knows the park extremely well. while we began together as a group, as time went on, we separated as trinkets and scenes entertained one of us, but not the others.
photographing water and reflections in the park is a rarity unless you hit the park at the right time, and there was a “stream” of water, perhaps a couple inches deep at its deepest, that ran haphazardly over cracked mud and through the basin. as the sun set, i noticed this scene of a reflection of the mountain in the distance, but wanted to capture as well, the mud cracks below the surface. as i often do with reflections, i flipped the image to make it appear as if this was how i viewed it, though i captured this image “upside down” from what you see.
