if only you could have seen the excitement on my face when i happened upon this scene! for those who know me well, they’ll know that my face looked exactly the same as it had when i started my hike. you see, i’m not very good - and some would say i’m horrible at it - at showing my emotions.
nonetheless, it was late spring/early summer, the snow was melting and it was leaving pools on the trails in rocky mountain national park where this image was taken. if you read the image title backwards, you’ll notice it says “laying by the pool”. i couldn’t help to notice that this “pool” was temporary in nature, while the pools we humans are more used to are much more permanent structures. while some humans spend a lot more time by these pools than others, the fact remains that our position next to the pools is always temporary. but the opposite is the case here: this pool is temporary, and the elements “lying next to it” are much more permanent in nature. it is, in effect, backwards of how we typically think of pools.
some may think that’s corny while others think that my thought process is pretty out there. i won’t argue that either perception is incorrect. but i do absolutely love the lines, shapes and forms in this image - which is what truly makes the image one worthy of adding to my portfolio.
