one of my favorite places to catch a sunset in the denver metro is rocky mountain arsenal wildlife refuge. this location requires walking across a bridge where there are a number of shoreline options for photos. after waiting for the peak colors and reflections, i packed up the tripod and camera as mule deer grazed around me. they paid me little attention as i walked back towards the bridge. upon reaching the bridge in the near dark, with no headlamp, the noises started. all of the ducks nearby began darting off in different directions. as i approached the other side of the bridge, the mule deer on the far side of the bridge began hopping away, and not at all quietly. it was certainly a walk back to the car to remember.
